UPWIND selected for BIP PROOF 2024/2025 🚀🌍

The UPWIND project, developed at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), is among the six initiatives selected to receive funding under the BIP PROOF 2024/2025 program.

UPWIND proposes a portable wind-based electricity generator – a clean, low-cost, and easy-to-install solution designed to deliver power to remote communities or temporary sites such as construction works, mining areas, or events.

Led by Fernando Fontes, the project brings together researchers from FEUP, FEP, and ISEP. For the team, the BIP PROOF award represents a validation of our business idea and will support the first steps towards moving from concept to market, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future and broadening access to affordable energy.

Launched by U.Porto Innovation in 2018, the BIP PROOF program has already supported 44 innovative ideas with a total of €500,000, helping technologies mature and move closer to market.
