We are at Conception X Cohort 8 🚀🌍

We’re proud to share that UPWIND has been selected as one of the seven PhD projects from FEUP to join the 8th edition of Conception X, the UK’s leading deeptech venture program for doctoral students. Over the next nine months, we’ll be competing for a share of €300,000+ in funding, while working to accelerate our high-altitude wind energy technology.

Last week, we kicked things off at the Cohort 8 launch in London — an inspiring gathering of 160+ PhD foundersbuilding science-based ventures to tackle global challenges.

Represented by Fernando Fontes and Sérgio Vinha, the UPWIND team spent two days immersed in workshops, idea-shaping sessions, and powerful conversations on how to turn deep tech into real-world impact. It was a chance to challenge assumptions, sharpen our vision, and connect with a community as ambitious as it is brilliant.

A huge thank you to the Conception X team for such a dynamic kickoff — and to our colleagues from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto for the great company throughout.
